Privacy policy

Pedometer King

This policy explains what information the Pedometer King Android app accesses, what stays on your device, what is sent to service providers, and the choices available to you.

1. Scope and who we are

Pedometer King is developed and provided by Kingbrain ("Kingbrain," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy applies to the Pedometer King Android app and the referral, notification, support, and promotional services that we operate for the app. Features can vary by app edition, device, country, and whether you use optional services.

This policy does not replace the privacy notices of Google, Meta, AppLovin, or another app or website you choose to use. Those organizations process information under their own policies as described below.

This privacy-policy webpage is static. It does not contain advertising, analytics scripts, or cookies.

2. Privacy at a glance

This summary is provided for convenience. The complete policy below controls.

Most detailed records stay local

Detailed step history, weight, heart-rate history, workout records, and GPS routes are primarily stored on your device.

Some health data is sent to analytics

Firebase Analytics currently receives certain values and events, including lifetime step totals and systolic and diastolic blood-pressure values.

The free edition uses advertising SDKs

Google AdMob, Meta Audience Network, and AppLovin may process device, network, identifier, consent, and ad-interaction data.

Payments are handled by Google Play

We receive product and purchase status, but we do not receive your complete payment-card details.

Optional features need extra data

GPS routes, camera-based heart-rate measurement, notifications, referrals, exports, and Play Games are optional.

You can request deletion

Delete local records where the app provides a control, clear app storage or uninstall, and email us about server-held data.

3. Information we process

In this policy, "process" includes accessing, collecting, storing, using, transmitting, or sharing information. Information described as sent to a provider leaves your device. Pseudonymous identifiers can still be personal information under privacy laws.

Categories of information processed by Pedometer King
Category Examples Where it is processed
Fitness, wellness, and profile data
CoreHealth-related
Steps and step history; activity type; distance; calories; goals and progress; age, height, weight, target weight, BMI-related values, and units; water intake; reminders; workout and coaching assessments, readiness, perceived effort, discomfort, progress, and outcomes. Detailed records are primarily stored locally. Certain exact or derived values and events are sent to Firebase Analytics, including lifetime step totals, trip or goal step counts, progress categories, and coaching selections or outcomes.
Blood pressure and heart information
OptionalSensitive
Systolic and diastolic readings, pulse, arm/body-position selections, notes, camera-derived heart-rate or other vital estimates, mood/activity labels, and timestamps. Records are stored locally. When a blood-pressure record is added or edited, the app currently sends the systolic and diastolic values to Firebase Analytics as a bp_log event. Camera frames used for a heart-rate estimate are processed on-device and are not intentionally saved or uploaded by Kingbrain.
Location, motion, and sensor data
Optional GPS
Step-counter and accelerometer signals, activity-recognition results, precise GPS coordinates during an enabled route-tracking workout, route timing, pace, and map viewport. Step and activity data supports ongoing tracking. GPS route points and completed workout routes are stored locally; no Kingbrain cloud upload path for raw routes was identified. Google Play services and Google Maps process location/map requests when those features are used.
App activity and analytics
Automatic
App opens and sessions, screens, navigation, feature use, achievements, permission outcomes, onboarding, deep-link route metadata, ad and paywall actions, purchase outcomes, user tier, retention stage, and coarse engagement counts. Sent to Google Firebase Analytics and related Google services to understand reliability, retention, engagement, and monetization. Analytics data may be exported to Google BigQuery or linked with AdMob if enabled in our Google project settings.
Device, app, network, and diagnostic data
Automatic
IP address; approximate location derived from IP; device and OS model/version; app version and variant; language, country, and time zone; network state; Firebase installation/analytics identifiers; Advertising ID where available; crash stack traces; diagnostic state; and ad performance. Firebase, Google Mobile Ads, Meta, AppLovin, and their partners may automatically process these data for app operation, analytics, diagnostics, advertising, measurement, and fraud prevention.
Anonymous identity, referrals, and notifications
Feature support
Anonymous Firebase UID, Firebase Cloud Messaging token, install-referrer string, installer package, campaign/inviter ID, referral pair, timestamps, reward counts and expiry, and an Android device identifier or its SHA-256 hash. Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Analytics, and Cloud Messaging process these data to operate referrals, grant ad-free rewards, send notifications, attribute installs, and prevent duplicate or fraudulent rewards.
Limited installed-app checks
LocalUser initiated
Whether Instagram, WhatsApp, X/Twitter, WhatsApp Business, or Kingbrain's WalkJoy app is installed. The app checks only these named packages to open a selected sharing app or show an Open/Install action. The installed/not-installed result is used on-device and is not intentionally transmitted by Pedometer King.
Advertising data
Ad-supported edition
Advertising or device identifiers, IP address, approximate location, consent signals, app/ad interactions, impressions, clicks, ad errors, and fraud/diagnostic information. Android Privacy Sandbox signals may be available on supported devices. Processed by Google AdMob and mediation partners including Meta Audience Network and AppLovin, subject to your region, consent status, device settings, provider availability, and their policies.
Purchases and subscriptions
Optional
Selected product, price/offer information, purchase and subscription status, acknowledgment status, purchase token, restore result, and related error code. Google Play handles checkout and payment credentials. The app receives and stores entitlement status; purchase tokens are returned to Google Play for verification/acknowledgment. Firebase Analytics receives product IDs and outcome codes, not purchase tokens.
Google Play Games data
Optional sign-in
Play Games profile/display name, achievements, and leaderboard scores including total, best-day, and average step statistics. Processed by Google Play Games only when you choose to sign in or use Games features. Visibility follows your Google Play Games privacy settings.
Support, promotions, exports, and shares
User initiated
Your email address and message when you contact us; email verification or voucher details if a promotion offers them; CSV fitness/health exports; and referral links. Support or promotional records are processed by us and relevant Google cloud/email services, including Google Forms when you open a feedback or contact form. Files and links are disclosed to the storage provider or app you select and are then governed by that recipient's policy.
Health-data transparency: detailed local records should not be confused with analytics events. Although most detailed health histories stay on the device, the specific Firebase Analytics transmissions described above currently leave the device.

4. Sensors, location, camera, and background use

Step and activity tracking

If enabled, Pedometer King uses motion, step-counter, and activity-recognition capabilities to count steps and classify activity. Tracking may continue while the app is not open so the pedometer can work throughout the day. Android may display a foreground-service notification. You can pause tracking or withdraw permissions in Android settings, but core pedometer features may then stop.

Optional precise GPS route tracking

Pedometer King requests precise location only for features that need it, such as recording a walking route during an active coaching workout. High-accuracy fixes may continue while that active workout runs, including while the screen is off. Route points, timing, distance, calories, and pace are stored in the local workout record and shown using Google Maps. Basic step counting can be used without GPS route tracking.

Optional camera-based heart-rate measurement

The camera and flash may be used to estimate heart rate or related wellness values from changes observed at your fingertip. Camera frames are processed on-device; Kingbrain does not intentionally store or upload photographs or video from this measurement. Resulting readings can be stored locally as part of your health history.

Not medical advice

Pedometer King is a general wellness and fitness app. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Measurements, coaching, and estimates may be inaccurate. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice and before making decisions about your health.

5. How we use information

We process the information described above for the following purposes:

  • Provide requested features: count steps, calculate distance/calories, show trends, store health entries, track workouts and routes, set reminders, personalize goals, and support widgets and achievements.
  • Operate optional services: Play Games, notifications, referrals and rewards, promotional verification, exports, and premium purchases.
  • Measure and improve the app: understand feature adoption, funnels, engagement, retention, advertising performance, and country/version-level reliability.
  • Diagnose problems: investigate crashes, failed launches, billing errors, ad failures, and device-specific defects.
  • Advertising and monetization: request, display, personalize where permitted, measure, and protect ads in the ad-supported edition.
  • Security and abuse prevention: identify duplicate referrals, fraudulent rewards, automated installs, and misuse of app or backend services.
  • Communication: send operational, reward, reminder, or promotional messages that are enabled or requested, and respond to support requests.
  • Legal purposes: comply with law, enforce terms, resolve disputes, and protect users, Kingbrain, and others.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, the basis depends on the feature and context and may include providing a service you requested, your consent, our legitimate interests in app operation/security/improvement where those interests are not overridden by your rights, and compliance with legal obligations.

6. Advertising, analytics, and consent

The ad-supported edition uses Google AdMob with mediation partners that include Meta Audience Network and AppLovin. Depending on your region, age treatment, consent choices, and device settings, ads may be personalized, non-personalized, limited, or contextual. Ad providers may use identifiers, IP-derived approximate location, app/ad interactions, diagnostics, and fraud signals to select and measure ads and protect their services.

Where required, Google's consent-management tools or another in-app notice may ask for advertising/privacy choices. A consent choice does not necessarily remove ads; it can change which data providers may use and whether ads are personalized. You can also reset or delete the Advertising ID and manage ad privacy in Android/Google settings. If a privacy-options control is available in the app, you may use it to revisit your choice.

We do not sell health or fitness records for money. Some U.S. privacy laws may define disclosures for personalized advertising as a "sale" or "sharing" even when no money is exchanged. Where such laws apply, use the available consent/privacy controls or contact us to exercise an applicable opt-out right.

The app does not intentionally pass detailed GPS route points, locally stored heart history, weight history, or raw camera frames as ad-request parameters. Advertising SDKs separately collect the advertising/device and interaction information described in this policy. Firebase Analytics currently receives the health/fitness analytics specifically identified in Section 3.

7. Who receives information

We disclose information only as needed for the purposes described in this policy. A service provider's receipt of data can be called "collection" or "sharing" under app-store rules or privacy law even when it acts on our behalf.

We may also disclose information:

  • to professional advisers and infrastructure providers under appropriate obligations;
  • when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or a valid government request;
  • to investigate abuse, fraud, security threats, or violations and protect rights and safety; or
  • as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, with legally required notice and safeguards.

8. Retention and deletion

Information stored on your device

Local fitness, health, profile, reminder, and workout data generally remains until you delete a record where the app offers that control, clear Pedometer King's app storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app. Some screens do not currently provide a delete-all control. Clearing storage or uninstalling does not delete CSV exports or copies you previously saved or shared outside the app.

Analytics, diagnostics, advertising, and Google services

Retention for Firebase Analytics, BigQuery if enabled, Crashlytics, advertising, Maps, Play Games, and Google Play transactions depends on our configured service settings and each provider's rules. Firebase states that Crashlytics event data is generally retained for 90 days. Certain Firebase installation and messaging identifiers can remain until the identifier is deleted; removal from live and backup systems may take additional time under Firebase's published processes.

Referral, notification, and anti-abuse records

Referral and reward records, anonymous UIDs, campaign and relationship data, and notification tokens are kept while needed to operate the referral program, deliver rewards, maintain entitlement history, and prevent abuse. Invalid notification tokens may be removed automatically. Anti-abuse device block records may be kept for the lifetime of the device or referral program because deleting them could permit repeated rewards. At the date of this policy, other referral records do not have an automatic expiry schedule.

Support and promotional records

We keep support correspondence while needed to resolve the request and maintain a reasonable business, fraud-prevention, or legal record. If an email-verification or voucher promotion is offered, its email, code, verification status, and assignment record may remain until it is deleted on request or is no longer required for the promotion, security, accounting, or legal compliance.

Request deletion of server-held data

Pedometer King may create an anonymous Firebase identity for referrals and notifications, but it does not create a conventional Kingbrain email/password profile in the current app. To request access to or deletion of data held by Kingbrain or its Firebase project, email support@kingbrainapps.com with the subject "Pedometer King data deletion request." We may ask for information reasonably needed to locate the pseudonymous record and verify that the request relates to your installation. If available, include the referral link or referral ID generated by your copy of the app; do not email your Android device ID. Because the records are pseudonymous, an email address alone may not identify them, and we may provide an additional in-app verification step. We will delete or de-identify information when required, except data we must or are permitted to retain for fraud prevention, security, transactions, disputes, or law.

A request to Kingbrain does not automatically delete information controlled by Google, Meta, AppLovin, or an app/storage provider you selected. Use the applicable provider's controls or contact that provider directly.

9. Your choices and privacy rights

  • Permissions: grant or withdraw activity recognition, location, camera, notifications, and other permissions in Android settings. Withdrawing a permission can disable the related feature.
  • Tracking controls: pause the pedometer or stop an active GPS route session using the app controls where available.
  • Advertising: use any consent/privacy form offered in the app and Android/Google ad-privacy settings; reset or delete the Advertising ID where supported.
  • Play Games: choose whether to sign in, sign out, and manage Games profile and visibility through Google controls.
  • Notifications: disable notification categories or all Pedometer King notifications in Android settings.
  • Local data: delete individual records where supported, clear app storage, or uninstall. Save or delete exported files separately.
  • Communications: opt out of promotional email using the method in the message or by contacting us. Operational responses to your request may still be sent.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or an explanation of personal-data processing; to object or withdraw consent; to opt out of certain targeted advertising, sale, sharing, or profiling; and to appeal a denied request. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. These rights can be subject to legal exceptions. Contact us using Section 13. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

10. Security and international processing

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information, including Android app sandboxing, restricted access to cloud projects, and encrypted transport when supported by our providers. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Protect your device, Google account, and exported files.

Google, Meta, AppLovin, and other providers operate globally. Information may be processed in countries other than your own, where privacy laws may differ. Where required, we and our providers rely on recognized transfer mechanisms and contractual safeguards. See the linked provider policies for their transfer and security details.

11. Children's privacy

Pedometer King is a general-audience fitness app and is not designed specifically for children. If you are below the age at which you may consent to data processing in your country, use the app only with authorization and supervision from a parent or guardian. A profile may permit entry of an age below 13 for local fitness calculations; entering an age does not create a conventional Kingbrain account. We do not knowingly seek a child's name, email address, or other directly identifying information through the app. Device, analytics, advertising, referral, and health-related information can nevertheless be processed as described in this policy.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information contrary to law, contact us. We will investigate and take appropriate deletion or restriction steps. App-store target-audience settings, age treatment, and advertising controls may also affect which features are available.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, providers, laws, or data practices change. We will post the revised policy at this URL and update the "Last updated" date. If a change is material, we may also provide an in-app notice or request consent where law requires it. Review this page periodically.
